Bajaj Electricals proposes to restructure its biz into two sections comprising consumer products and business to business, and has brought up existing executive director Anant Bajaj as its joint MD to lead the novel venture of concentrating on high margin products.
Segments like appliances, fans, consumer durables, lighting and Morphy Richards will now be part of the consumer products division and will be led by executive director PS Tandon whilst luminaries and engineering projects biz will shape the B2B vertical handled by executive director Lalit Mehta.
Both the division heads will report to Anant Bajaj, who will accept the new duty from April 1.
The exports section that was thus far managed by Bajaj International will also be branch of Bajaj Electricals.

The 34-year-old Anant Bajaj, who had joined the firm in 1999 as a project co-ordinator stated, “This was always on the cards, but now I have more authority to do it. Like a true 'Marwari' we start from scratch and then take on the larger responsibility.”
Just two years back, its business to business biz accounted for more than 65% of its overall income, but the situation has altered now, and consumer products presently contributes more than 60% of sales.
"There have been delays in some decision making on the government's part and spending has been erratic by private sectors as well, impacting our project business," said Bajaj.
